Alban Plaster of Paris Bandage. - Casting Material:

FACT SHEET:

* Used for the treatment of bone fracture, soft tissue injuries and for immobilization where required. Also ideal for orthopedic casting and general use.
* Available in two setting speeds o 2 and 4 minutes,
* Special formulation giving high utilization and economy with low plaster loss.

* Special core material for the rolls allows water penetration right to the center which permits full flow of the plaster of Paris at the end of the roll ensuring no weak sports in the cast.

* Excellent conformability in use ensuring perfect cast form and strength.

           

Method of Use:
1) Prepare a water basin for immersion of the Plaster of Paris Casting Bandage. The water used should be soft water and the ideal temperature is room temperature of around 20 to 25 degrees Celsius.
2) Prepare the patient with stockinette and Alban sub cast padding, where required.
3) Open the plaster of Paris bandage and immerse in the water entering the water slowly and at an angle, and with a 10 cm flap open over the fingers to allow ease of application.
4) Allow a soak time of 15 seconds and when all air bubbling has ceased remove from the water, and squeeze without twisting.
5) Wrap on the patient using a spiral form and wiping the plaster around to create an even cast form and uniform application of the plaster on all sides.
6) Setting time specifications are initial setting times. Full strength develops in about 48 hours, so up to that time it is recommended to apply minimal force on the cast.

Types: Alban 4 minute Plaster of Paris Bandages and Alban Plus, 2 minute Plaster of Paris Bandages.

5, 7.5, 10, 15, 20, cm and special widths and lengths to order.
Slabs in both types: 10 cm x 20 m, 15 cm x 20 m and 20 cm x 20 m.

This essential material is the heart of a good cast and at Alban pains have been taken to ensure the very best padding for the long term comfort of the patient. Alban padding is soft and irriation free, and is easy to apply and use.

For very sensitive skin we recommend the use of our natural padding as a guard against maceration of the skin.

These products are fully sterilizable and can be shaped and cut with the minimum of force ensuring patient comfort from the very begining of the application of the cast. The materials resist absorbtion of water to a good extent minimising discomfort and are well accepted in hospitals and by Doctors wanting a really high performance product that is easy to use.

The products are packaged in polyethylene bags in tens for conveience and are supplied in bulk cartons.
